Iraq: Four Russian hostages reportedly executed
The four Russian diplomats captured in Iraq have been executed, said the Mujahideen Shura organization.
The CNN aired the news on alleged execution. Russian radio Echo of Moscow said the information was not confirmed by other sources.
Russian Foreign Ministry is checking the information. The Ministry presumes the hostages are still alive, referring to a report from Russian news agency Interfax.
The Russian diplomat and three embassy employees were captured on June 3 in an attack during which another Russian employee was killed.
The militant group had given the Russian government 48 hours to withdraw from Chechnya and release all imprisoned Muslims, terms with which Russia did not comply.
