"Monday morning. Considering the fairly suck ass situation I’m in financially, I’m in a pretty good mood. I suppose it will evaporate after sitting at the desk for a few hours, but I’ll take it where I can.

For those of you who are interested in Iraq, let’s talk about a few things. First off, let’s all remind ourselves that, um, uh ….

IT’S A WAR. People are getting killed. Americans are giving their lives. Does any of you know what it feels like to have a bullet or shrapnel enter you and rip though your body? To lie on the ground in the dirt, and feel the blood pouring out of your body and you know you’re dying? To kneel next to a man who is dying, someone who is a brother in all but name, shooting at other human beings while your friend lies on the ground, and his blood soaks through your boots?

Some of you do. Most DON’T. To them, this is all a theoretical abstraction, a game to be played. “What should we do this weekend, oh, I know, let’s go protest the war. That massacre the Marines committed was so horrible.” IT MEANS NOTHING TO YOU. The same, I feel, can be said of the people who have sent us to war. “What if we just stay the course, eventually we’ll wear them down.”"
