SUPPORT THE TROOPS BUT NOT THE WAR?
"You cannot support me and not the war.Lucky for me those are not the only options.
If you mail me cookies, send me holiday cards, toilet articles and other niceties then you are supporting somebody who willingly prosecutes the mission he has been given.
You are supporting someone who trains hard, thinks about, and works to be better at fighting war.
This is my profession. This is what I am passionate about.
You cannot support me and not the war. I am the war."
Chapter: War

I hear this often and I believe it is a predominately held opinion among those who are serving---if they don't feel they are being supported by those who hold that they 'support the troops, but no the war', then they, in fact, are not being supported. Saying otherwise changes nothing in regard to their morale, which is what 'support' means in this context. In any other context it is self serving bullshit.
