The U.S. Military is in DU Denial
"The U.S. Military is in DU Denial

"My name is John Marshall. I was exposed to DU (depleted uranium). I am 100 percent disabled and I am pissed-off. In fact, I was advised by a couple of my counselors not to do this [interview] because I'm so angry with the government -at the VA system, at the way I'm treated and other veterans are treated. It's very impersonal. They don't give you any time. They ask us to go fight their wars, do the dirty work and then they can't take care of you." "

You should all familiarize yourselves with all studies of DU contamination and comparitive studies of cancer rates of Gulf War Vets and the general population. If it matters to you, there is NO evidence to show that DU cointributes in any significant way to ill health. The WHO and UN did studies in response to stories of horrific cancers and birth defects in Iraqi children after the Gulf War. Even the activists said that the rates for such were in line with rates in similar Arabic nations except for villages located near the many toxic waste dumps to be found throughout Saddam's Iraq. But don't let facts get in the way of propaganda...that takes all the fun out of it. This has the potential of silicon breast implant mania...in case you haven't heard, it was all a crock of shit, too. People get sick, and have to have someone to blame so that any unusual event in their lives has to have some cause.
I actually agree with you, this one case seemed different because the vet in question said that he was exposed to the "dust" from a friendly fire incident. From what I have read, the dust is the dangerous part. I have to ask you, did you read the report? do you think that exposure to DU dust is or is not harmful. I know that there have been lots of reports of DU being blamed for everything from birth defects to ingrown toe nails, for the most part I have disregarded those or argued with the people posting such junk reports. I have even linked to reports such as you have mentioned, but in this case there may have been direct exposure. so I am not sure if it's the same as kids playing on a destroyed equipment a week after the fight.
By the way, who are "you people"? Citizen of Mosul is an Iraqi citizen blogger, sunni anti war type. I am a US civilian war blogger, pro war type for the most part, so not sure who your comment was directed too. If you wanted to talk to the Iraqi blogger, please follow the link to his blog and make your comments there. Your of course welcome to comment here all you like but "they" will not see it, just me.
