Baby steps in and adult world.
Well Iraq has taken the first step in the formation of their new government. There is much work that this new government must do and we are still awaiting the announcements of the cabinet minister. We are hoping that the new PM will chose wisely, good people from all sectors of Iraq society that will work for a unified Iraq.
Iraq has many problem and they are in dire need of competent ministers that will put their minds and ministries to work for the people of Iraq. Will we see such a government emerge for the burning ruins of Baghdad. That is still to be seen. I think that at this point we should celebrate the breakthrough of the initial steps that have taken place. We should thank the outgoing PM for his service. We here at This Fucking War are happy that he only got one term, not necessarily because he was a bad PM, but just for the president that it might set. One term is enough for anyone to hold the office of PM in a place like Iraq that has just moved out from under the grip of a dictator that held on to power for so many years. I think it helps ease the fears of people that a new dictator is just around the corner. Maybe just the fact that the new guy has a new face will help quell the pervasive violence that grips Iraq. I know it's a long shot, and we still await the nomination to the important cabinet post that will have a lot to do with, if people accept this new government, and with it's eventual success or failure.
But for today let's sit in the present and celebrate what is a new day.
Long live Iraq and it's brave people!
