What has happened?

"...I look here, all about me and I see what has become of the people due to the outside influences of those who wish to rule another by force. A social system in tatters. Tribal feuding fueled by a simmering rebellion. Homes, villages, cities, and a country in ruins. These though are just the outward signs like that of an explosion; the effects are plain to see. The more ominous ones are not as easy to spot by the casual glance. Years under the yoke of tyranny are not so easily disabused. We may be here for generations…if we actually want to salve the wounds of this war. We must teach the young ones, this new group of future leaders to look beyond the end of their noses and see that peace is worth fighting and sometimes dying for."
