The Wash Rack

"I'm in Kuwait. Left that mess up north about a week after the rest of my unit. And here I am, washing tanks and the rest of the Regiment's vehicles. Feels good to know I made it out alive, but it sucks that so many people I deployed with didn't.

I sit here after my shifts at the wash rack and enjoy Haji KFC and Haji Hardee's, but I know the deal. The ones who got blown to pieces in their Bradleys in South Baghdad never made it to this detail, man. Or the ones who got sniped in Tal Afar. Nope, their last meal was probably a fucking MRE or some nasty kebab made by Haj at the Castle. A real special kebab made by some insurgent's cousin, black water of death and all."
