Gulf Ripples

"One of the indirect consequences of the U.S. overthrow of the Baathist
regime in Iraq, according to a recent AP account, is an improvement in
the conditions faced by Shiite populations in the Gulf. The wire story
is angled around a fear of sectarian violence spilling over from Iraq.
However, not only does the story note that no such violence has occurred
in any Gulf country, it actually reveals that things have been getting
better for the region's Shiites for some time, certainly since before
the violence that followed the Samarra bombing."
