Hitchens gets it right

"Christopher Hitchens has a fine piece in Slate that releases the frustration of the Iraqi heart. In writing about the Iraqis who are fighting the Zarqawi thugs, the author touches on the media who call the murderers "rebels" and the such. But the sentence that really made me smile was this:
"Of course, most reporters then returned to their insulting (and insultingly easy) task of demarcating and segregating all Iraqi opinion as if it had to fall into one of three groups."
Maybe there is hope after all for some members of the media to understand Iraq a bit more. IraqPundit has been trying to say for such a long time that there are no tidy categories for us."

And this from the other day
"That's not very neighbourly

Iraq the Model writes that Zarqawi's thugs are not the country's biggest problem. Rather, the smart blog says that Iraq's meddlesome neighbours, Syria and Iran, now pose the greatest threat to stability and democracy in Iraq.

Syria certainly has been a source of much trouble for post-Saddam Iraq, because it harbors Iraqi Baathists and facilitates cross-border insurgents."
