Blogs on the Palestinian Election

"RAMALLAH, West Bank

The swell of support for Hamas in the courtyard outside the girls' high school is evident; a feeling of imminent victory in the air. The Hamas campaign is confident and aggressive, while the Fatah challenge seems to have lost all confidence.

Two young children stand in the dark at the footsteps of an entrance to the polling station, urging the final voters to make the "right choice." Clad in a Hamas green bandanna and a flashlight in hand, one of the kids hands out flyers, with the names of the four Hamas candidates in the city. A man refuses to accept.

"But it's not Fatah, it's Hamas," the boy protests.

The man turns around and grabs the flyer.

The Hamas scarf is worn as a badge of honor, while the Fatah symbols are concealed.

A girl, known to be from a a Fatah family, is heckled.
