Divas and dabblers

"Those who wish so desperately to see Iraq fail have outdone themselves in the last couple of days. The sight of ordinary people voting did not melt their ice-cold hearts. Rather, it made them even more strident in their writings.

Helena Cobban's vision of a "more just world" means it has to be according to her definition of justice -- whatever that may be. She explains a bit of that here:

"I believe the central goal for the "peace and human equality" movement here in the US and elsewhere around the world now has to be the speedy and total withdrawal of the US forces from Iraq. But is this likelier to happen if we can allow George W. Bush to claim one or more political "victories" in Iraq?""

If you ask me GWB is single-handedly defeating himself.
