Personal Iraq Diary: 4-14 July 2004.

"4 July 2004

On the 2nd we went to the ING station at Top Gun. While we were waiting outside for them to begin the patrol a few mortar rounds buzzed over our heads. You know the danger level from the sound. Small arms fire started from the north and south but it seemed like it was no where near us. We heard that it was some of the cops from the station receiving fire. We sat there waiting 10 to 15 minutes for it to get closer to us but it never did. After all that the platoon sergeant called out saying they didn't want to go out on patrol with us anymore. The complaint was that every time they go out with Americans they get shot at after we leave."
