Iraqi Sunnis come around

"Clerics recognize the value of joining the struggle to craft a constitution

Depending on the partisanship of the viewer, the war in Iraq, at any given point, can easily be seen as a glass half empty or half full. And though of late the steady drip of deaths from insurgent attacks is depleting confidence, on the political front there are new, mildly encouraging sings of replenishment.

An influential Sunni umbrella group over the weekend persuaded senior clerics of Iraq's disaffected religious minority to issue a fatwa, or religious decree, calling on followers to vote in the next round of elections and participate in the writing and ratifications of a new Iraqi constitution."

I cant remember who, but one of the Iraqi bloggers told us once that for the Sunnis, a fatwa did not carry as much waight as with some other Muslum sects. There's a Cubanisum we use, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate here, it's a bit rude.
So I wonder if that's true? Will this ruling bring many people with it?
